ABOUT ME
I hold an M.A. In Social Media from Birmingham City University and am a PhD candidate studying at the University of Worcester in the School of Sports and Exercise Science. My doctoral research is concerned with the sociology of outdoor recreation, with a specific focus on British recreational angling communities. I am interested in the socio-cultural aspects of angling and, particularly, in the use of social media by angling communities. I am a lifelong angler and have worked professionally in the world of angling in social media and as a freelance writer.
HOBBIES
INTERESTS
Since a very young age, I have had a love for angling, first introduced to the sport thanks to simpler times and friendly anglers, I have experienced all the ups, and downs, of an angling career.
I returned to serious recreational angling in the early 2000’s and have developed a taste for the more esoteric side of the sport which has culminated in the launch of my micro-business Britsuri which aims to reinvent angling for those who are keen to listen!
However, I enjoy a range of angling from simple float to canal to game.
FACTS
FACTS ABOUT ME
I feel hugely honored to be able to serve on the National Angling Advisory Group for the Canal & Rivers Trust and to be able to act as Angling Representative to the Inland Waterways Association Navigation Committee.
I am always looking for new ways that I can help the cause of angling and promote a sustainable future for angling and anglers of this generation and, hopefully, many more to come!
